ETA — Building Confidence, Achieving Excellence
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our programmes, our XL05 method, class sizes, fees and enrolment — answered in one place.
What levels does ETA support?
We provide tuition for Primary, Secondary, IP and JC students, as well as specialised IELTS preparation. Each level has dedicated classes and materials designed to match MOE syllabuses and exam formats.
What is XL05?
XL05 is a teaching strategy created by Mr Thompson. It gives students a clear, step-by-step way to read questions carefully, plan their responses and check their work. XL05 is used across our Primary, Secondary and JC programmes to build consistency and confidence.
How does XL05 help my child?
For younger learners, XL05 breaks tasks into small, manageable steps. For older students, it provides a structured way to plan essays, analyse texts and tackle complex questions. This helps reduce exam stress and improves the quality of answers over time.
What are your class sizes?
Classes are kept intentionally small so teachers can give individual attention, monitor progress closely and apply XL05 effectively with each student.
Do you offer trial lessons?
Trial or onboarding lessons may be available, subject to schedule and class availability. Contact us via the Contact page to find out more.
Are lessons in-person or online?
All lessons are conducted in person only. Please check our Schedule page or contact us for current arrangements.
How are fees structured?
Fees are charged based on level and programme, typically per 2-hour lesson. You can find an overview on our Home page under Fees, and on the Primary, Secondary & IP 1–4, and JC & IP 5–6 pages.
How do I enrol?
Submit an enquiry through the Contact page or reach us via email or phone. We’ll recommend a suitable programme and schedule a start date for your child.
Still have a question?
Tell us about your child and their goals, and we’ll recommend the right programme, level and schedule to get started.
